Castlemilk Moorit

sheepLight Brown, or Moorit, in colour and one of the taller primitive breeds of native sheep, and is slow to mature finishing only on grass.

The meat is very lean with a fine texture and is low in cholesterol. The flavour is more gamey than people will have experienced in commercial breed lambs.

 

Jacobs

The biblical connection gives an idea to the supposed origins of this primitive breed.

The Scottish Jacob has a distinct appearance with its 4 horns and patchwork fleece of cream with brown spots.

The carcase provides a sweet meat of exceptional flavour and leanness, succulent and tender.

 

Ryelands ( Teddy Bears)

Recently off the Rare Breeds Survival Trusts classification of a rare breed, and now classified as a minority breed.

They are a small slow growing sheep finishing only on grass without the use of supplements to enhance growth.
