The meat is very lean with a fine texture and is low in cholesterol. The flavour is more gamey than people will have experienced in commercial breed lambs.
The
biblical connection gives an idea to the supposed origins of this primitive
breed.
The
Scottish Jacob has a distinct appearance with its 4 horns and patchwork fleece
of cream with brown spots.
The carcase
provides a sweet meat of exceptional flavour and leanness, succulent and
tender.

off the Rare Breeds Survival Trusts classification of a rare breed, and now
classified as a minority breed. |

Light
Brown, or Moorit, in colour and one of the taller primitive breeds of native
sheep, and is slow to mature finishing only on grass.
